Dear Brig.Gulia Sir,
It heartening news that IESL will also join in the protest on 12 April.''United we stand divided we fall''. Well done and keep up your good work for the welfare of ESMs,notwithstanding who is heading which organization. All ESMs, irespective of which service they served, should fight this injustice unitedly.Kindly see if you can persuade Air Force Association also to join this protest on 12 April. Personal ambitions of any individuals should not affect our unity. The need of the hour is UNITY.Good Luck.

Dear Radhakrishnan Sir,
I am so glad that you have become a binding force for all the veterans,my heartiest congratulations to you. You have shown such high level of maturity ,unfortunately lacking amongst most of the veterans.I hope you will continue to strive hard for the welfare of ESMs. Let us hope 12 April will be a big show and it should create some ripples in the power corridors. If this rally is successful we may find some bending on the part of the Govt,in view of the forthcoming Elections.I wish you all success.
Kamboj sir we are very very thankful to you for taking the initiative once again for a united fight against the injustice done to ESMs .This is the only way we can hope to achieve something.I consider both of you our strong pillars. Hope all of you will work together for our common goal.I am enclosing an email which i wrote recently to MOS for Defence.Kindly do not publish it.
Regards,
Bhinder

Dear Sirs,
Coming together of IESL and IESM is the best news in a long time. We can all remain the typical 'Argumentative Indian' in Amartaya Sen style, as long as at the end of the day we emerge smiling and carrying the torch "together".
Congratulations to all and with all good wishes for the future.

Dear Sirs

The coming together of IESL and IESM augurs well for the ESM community. I salute Generals Radhakrishnan and Kadyan for their sagacious efforts.

With this unity the covert efforts of babus and their cohorts to divide ESM is now behind us. The pressure of this Combine will have telling effect on babugiri. Ignoring Veterans hereafter will be at their peril. The storm is now a cyclone. Beware babus before it turns into a typhoon.

Best wishes and many regards

Dear Gen Kadyan and Brig Gulia,

Heartiest congratulations on your coming together. A holy alliance between IESL and IESM will, no doubt, bloom into a blessed, happy, responsible and productive wedlock that will deliver - in times to come - the much awaited baby Cornucopia to everyone's delight.

That was to say it in lighter vein. More significantly, your Unity will boost up the speed and momentum of the Movement making it a Force that will be hard to be ignored by any government. So, I wish you all success and glory.

Now, you are a joint Movement at national level without a rival. It therefore calls for an expanded vision too. As the national scene stands today, Indian media and the people are no longer enamoured with the political class. The common man has no confidence in the systems of governance. Everyone has devised ways and means to deal with the government agencies and pays for what should be genuinely his for free. Military still commands a cosy corner of Indian People’s heart. However, at a time like now, when people find us talking only about self-serving issues and not about larger national issues, they find us measuring up less than their expectations. At a time like this when the nation is going general elections, I think we should lend voice to burning national issues as well, eg: national security and terrorism, corruption, entry of criminals into politics, Parties promoting communal hatred to ‘divide and rule’ and so on.

For more details, I invite you to visit my Blog:
http://sarvabharatserveindia.blogspot.com/

Secondly, it is no use crying hoarse that ‘WE ARE THE BEST’. In our exuberance many of our well meaning and learned veterans also seem to succumb to their inner rage against organisations like Police and para-military forces. I too felt really hurt at the way Ashok Chakras were distributed in the post 26/11 Mumbai and wrote about it. But our failure to exercise restraint over emotion triggers nausea and we spew up – a scene no one likes! There are many – or let’s say quite a few – officers in the IPS as well as IAS who have respect for our profession. Our angry outbursts and extravagant use of nearly abusive language, sarcasms and loose-talk adds more to the enemy strength. We must develop the right style to take a headshot with a silencer version weapon! Write-ups against Military in blog ‘Pragmatic Euphony’ do it with remarkable subtlety – so bad that you would feel like catching the writer and shooting him at the nearest short range! But any common reader is compelled to think over about the points these write-ups raise! They build up logic and rationale backed by convincing data.

Once again, my heartiest congratulations to everyone at the IESL and IESM.

Karan Kharb

Dear Friends,

It is with great interest that I read about the 'history in making'.

In this respect I would like to draw your attention to my email sent to Chander Kamboj on 28 Feb 2008. The rate at which IESM is catching on [ like a bloody epidemic, I say!! ], I have no doubt that IESL will have to join us. Maybe they've seen the writing on the wall. The email ibid is attached below.

I would like to thank and commend you all [ and many other workers and leaders ] for your selfless, untiring efforts despite criticism [ at times snide and angry ] from many. Please carry on with the good work, God bless you all.

I had recommended in the past that we (a) co-opt PBORs in a big way as they are the bulk and backbone of any veteran movement and (b) use our political clout, especially our serving personnel who can vote at their places of posting and who can help us return veterans as MPs from cantonment towns. I am very glad to see that many more of us are now thinking on these lines; I have nary a doubt, never had any from day one in fact, that ham honge kaamyaab !!

Now for a little story to raise your morale. In a small Italian town, a young man painted a picture and put it on an easel at a prominent place. He put up a notice to say that if anyone noticed a defect in the painting, they were requested to mark it with a cross by using the pencil provided for this purpose. Next day when he came to the spot, he found his painting marked with hundreds of crosses. He was devastated.

A wise friend of his advised him to paint another picture and follow his advice. This painting was again displayed at the same place. The notice now invited people to use the brushes and paints provide and correct any defects they saw in the painting. Next day the two friends came and saw that no one had touched the painting.

So, my friends, it is very easy to criticise as many of you must have experienced; however, to work hard and deliver is a different matter altogether. So, please take the criticism in your stride and press on regardless.

Once again. Many thanks, bahut shabaash, lage raho munna bhai log, manzil nazdeek aa rahi hai.

Kind regards...........................K K Punchhi.

Chhote Bhai,

I just thought I'll share two points with you.

First one is OROP....... edited ................

Next point is an advance thinking and keep it strictly to yourself. I can foresee a day when IESL will join or will be forced to join IESM. That will be the day when our Ganga will have gone past the sangam at Prayag or Allahabad. I shall duly declare so. We would have then gone approx half way to our goal called Ganga Sagar. Have patience.

Fond regards..........................kkp.
